You know, this summer has been pretty incredible. We had our 4 year Anniversary, I have been quietly working behind the scenes and at the Front Desk more, and am currently chillin’ at home ALONE! (House to myself, what??) Kids are at Camp Anokijig for a week, and Derek is off at a Summit Salon Leadership event in Las Vegas with Assistant Manager Carole.
They are learning a lot and coming home with a full Apprenticeship Program and new menu model. This will help us continue to grow this business from the inside out, and reward our top performers with a strong career path for success. It will also involve tiered pricing for our Masters (like me) and entry level prices for fresh talent. This way we can continue to serve everyone in our community. It’s been really eye opening as I dive deeper into the data on client and employee satisfaction. I’m learning better ways to make this Spa & Salon an amazing experience for everyone involved.
I will be sure to communicate all of our menu changes at least 30 days in advance and give everyone a chance to pre-book at original pricing. Don’t worry, it won’t be a drastic change, and your Member benefits will continue to help you save money through the year. 🙂 There’s all kinds of good stuff planned moving forward, and I’ll sing it from the rafters as soon as I can!
What I can sing from the rafters is Front Desk Manager Krystle’s praises! Service from the heart, with professionalism and craftsmanship, is a calling. We are born to help others feel good, take care of each other, and she does it for both our clients and our team. When Krystle is at the front desk, we know things will run smooth and everyone is well taken care of. This August marks her 1 year anniversary with us and I’m so grateful to have such an experienced and even-keeled partner at the front-of-house.
Krystle grew up in Joliet and started her the hair world as a receptionist at the local Supercuts. After Supercuts she helped manage a full service salon and spa for 5 years until she and her husband moved to Huntley in 2010. In 2011, she helped manage another local salon in Hampshire for 3 yrs before taking some time off to enjoy being a mom to her beautiful daughter Layla. After having her 2nd daughter Olivia, she decided to get back into the work force and planted her feet with Fox River Spa and Salon.
Krystle has helped me personally by taking on a lot of our ordering, Bridal consultations, and staff scheduling. She’s truly been a gift, and handles my special brand of crazy like a champ. When our team heard she was Employee in the Spotlight this month, they gushed about how awesome she is – flips tech rooms when they are booked tight, is professional yet funny, great on the phone, multi-tasks with grace, and knows our system inside and out. She personally trains all our new hires on the front desk and is a great communicator and organizer. Thank you, Krystle, for being part of our Spalon family! Couldn’t do it without you!
As we continue to move forward, we love trying new things! Cupping in massage has been very effective for both muscle tension and circulation, and Cinde has additional training to perform cupping on the face! Check out these before and afters with great results! Cupping is usually a $10 Add-On to any service, and both Cinde and Jill are qualified to use them on the body. August special is just a $5 upgrade!
What else is going on around here? We’ve hired an additional Stylist, Alec, who is just fabulous. He joins us from a Salon in Lakewood and brings a lot of talent and personality to the floor. If you don’t have a favorite Stylist yet at our Salon, please give him a try! He’s got a great eye for color!
Hope everyone has a fabulous week! Thanks as always for your referrals and reviews. Your word-of-mouth reference is the lifeblood that keeps the Spa moving and grooving! Just hit 100 Reviews on Yelp and got the coveted sticker that only the cool kids with 100 reviews get. I don’t know why this made my day, but it did! Thank you!!
Love to all, JulieB
