Spring Break is almost over. Phew! I don’t know about you, but my house is thrashed and the kids are vampires. Legit reversal of sleep schedules. Apologies to all the teachers out there for Monday morning. Going to be rough. My sister took Missy to Paris after she completed her financial savings challenge ($500 in a year! Saved! By my 11 year old! #proudmommoment) (oh boy, watch out… we’ve hit the point of the evening where I talk in hashtags) But honestly, if my kids are going to learn one thing growing up in a small business family, it’s going to be fiscal discipline and budgeting. #winning #evolve #okthatwas2things Gabby and I had lovely bonding time at Wisconsin Dells and then sleepover after sleepover after sleepover.
I won’t include a picture of the spare room that was turned into a fort, but I thank all those involved in the epic construction project. Good use of space. Might keep it up for a while. 😉
So if you’re ready for some peace and down time after this week of kid-central insanity, Deal Week is coming Monday. It’s a great time to get some self-care and maintenance in. We’re almost completely sold out – so please call or book online asap if you’re hoping to get in! We just added some extra availability, thank you to my team for picking up shifts next week. #dedicated #grinding #SpaTribe
I’d like to take some time and personally thank and highlight one of our dedicated SpaTribe teammates at Algonquin this newsletter, Ms. Kim Wood!
Kim is a dual licensed Massage Therapist and Esthetician who joined us at Algonquin shortly after we opened, and having her on our team has proven to be a great addition! She grew up in Northbrook and started her career in business. She quickly realized office work just wasn’t for her and headed to the Wellness & Beauty industry. Now with over 25 years experience as a licensed professional, she’s got a plethora of skills, certifications, and tools in her tool belt. PCA Skin certified, Brazilian master, and an Ellebanna Lash Lift & Tint Artist as well makes Kim an extremely well rounded craftswoman. Plus, she brings an element of humor and playfulness to the break-room which is always good!
What I most appreciate about Kim is how seriously she takes her profession. It’s easy to get a little complacent after so much time in a “job”, but not Kim. She’s 100% on point when it comes to her treatments. She takes the utmost care to understand people’s needs and goals, and sincerely tries to create the perfect protocol just for them. You should read her SOAP notes! Very detailed, outcome orientated, and client focused. Love it when my staff makes better notes than me. 😉 Myofascial release, sports massage, prenatal sessions and dual facial – massage combo’s are her favorite services to offer. When she’s not working, Kim is a foodie. She loves cooking and swapping recipes with everyone! Thank you, Kim, for being part of our SpaTribe! XOXO ~Jb
Another fun thing we have coming up is a Stress Management & Self-Care Workshop at Renew Health Center! I used to present a version of this at Advocate Sherman for their Nursing Leadership Team, and as a Continuing Education class for Massage Therapists. Dr. Cameron Gilbert(who is a FANTASTIC Chiropractor if you need one!) thought it would be a great message to share with his clinic as well. I’m inviting all of you to come experience this free 1 hour workshop where I’ll show you a few tricks of the trade in managing your stress and dealing with the grind. People always ask how am I so dang positive all the time… well, it’s a skill – one you can develop. Let’s go there together. <3 Tues April 16th, 7p-8p @ Renew Health Center @ 2114 W. Algonquin Rd., Lake In The Hills, IL 60156(224) 678-9424
